Ecclesiastes 3
To everything
there is a season,
a time for every
matter under heaven;
a time to be born,
and a time to die;
a time to plant,
and a time to pluck
up what is planted;
a time to weep,
and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn,
and a time to dance;
a time to keep,
and a time to cast away.
Psalm 121-A Song of Ascents
I lift up my eyes to the hills—
from where will my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
He who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is your keeper;
the LORD is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The LORD will keep your going out and your
coming in from this time on and forevermore.
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept
the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument
of your peace;
Where there is hatred,
let me sow love;
Where there is injury,pardon;
Where there is doubt,
faith;
Where there is despair,
hope;
Where there is darkness,
light;
And where there is sadness,
joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to
console;
To be understood as to
understand;
to be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we
receive;
It is in pardoning that we
are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are
born to eternal life.
The Twenty-Third Psalm
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the
paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of
the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; Thy rod and
thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence
of mine enemies: thou anointest my head
with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life: and I will
dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Hail Mary
Hail, Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God,
pray for us sinners now
and at the hour of our death.
May (Insert first name) soul
and the soul’s of all the
faithfully departed
rest in peace.
Amen.
Psalm 46:1-5
God is our refuge and strength, a very
present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the
earth be moved, and though the mountains
be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though the waters thereof roar and be
troubled, though the mountains shake with
the swelling thereof.
There is a river, the streams whereof shall
make glad the city of God, the holy place of
the tabernacles of the most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be
moved: God shall come to her aid at early dawn.
Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me,
all ye that labour
and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
Psalm 108
As for man, his days are as grass:
as a flower of the field,
so he flourisheth.
For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone.
But the mercy of the Lord
Is from Everlasting to Everlasting.
Psalm 147:3-5
God heals the brokenhearted,
and binds up their wounds.
He counts the stars
and calls them all by name.
How great is our Lord!
His power is absolute!
His understanding is
without measure!
Psalm 42:1
As the deer thirsts for flowing
brooks, so longs my soul for
you, O God.
John 11:25,26
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection
and the life; he who believes in me,
though he die, yet shall he live,
and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.”
Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, “Let the little children
come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of heaven belongs
to such as these.
Children of the heavenly Father
Safely in His bosom gather,
Nestling bird or star in heaven|
Such a refuge ne’er was given.
Why should I feel discouraged
why should the shadows come
Why should my heart be lonely
and long for heaven and home
When Jesus is my portion
my constant friend is He
His eye is on the sparrow
and I know He watches me.
In Memory
As we gather here today, to pay
tribute to a loved one and friend, let
us remember and hold in memory,
and cherish those moments that each
of us shared in some way with our
departed one.
Let us join hands and hearts together
in this service so that it may lend
comfort and solace to the family and
serve as an inspiration to all of us in
the months and years ahead.
John 13:34
And so now I give a new commandment to
you… love each other just as I love you.
God’s Promises
God gives grace for each trial,
And courage for each sorrow,
And faith to face in confidence
A blessed, bright tomorrow.
May He support us all the
day long, till the shades
lengthen and the evening
comes, and the busy world
is hushed and the fever of
life is over and our work is
done. Then in His mercy
may He give us a safe
lodging and a holy rest
and peace at the last.
-Cardinal Newman
Lord, when my
soul takes flight, may it rise swiftly to
live forever in your love and care
Life is God’s gift to us,
what we do with our life
is our gift to God.
If we had been given only
one day of life, it would
have been generous.
If we had been given only
one storm that left us un-
harmed, it would have been
generous.
If we had been given only
one moment’s pride in the
success of our labors, it
would have been generous.
But we have been given life
and time, joy and sorrow
sunshine and storms, laughter
and tears, gifts to share
and days to remember.
May we in gratitude give
back to Life what we so generously receive from the
Giver of Life.
O, gentlest Heart of Jesus, ever present
in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed
with burning love for the poor captive souls
in Purgatory, have mercy on the soul of Thy
departed servant. Be not severe in Thy judge-
ment, but let some drops of Thy precious
Blood fall upon the devouring flames, and do
Thou, O merciful Saviour, send Thy Angels
to conduct Thy departed servant to a place of
refreshment, light and peace. Amen.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
